Central Lake Township Voter Information
The Township Polling Place for all elections is the Meeting Room of the Government Center located at 1622 N. M-88 in Central Lake. The polling place is open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Persons in line at 8 p.m. are permitted to vote.
Voting requirements are a person must be a resident of the Township for at least 30 days, must be 18 years old (or will be 18 by the next election) and be a United States citizen. The 2018 updated Election Law provides a voter can register and vote on Election Day with residency verification.
Non-registered voters who are new to the Township can register at the Township offices, at any Michigan Secretary of State office or by mail with the County Clerk.
Applications for Absentee Ballots can be obtained from the office of the Clerk. Voters no longer need to give a reason to vote an Absentee Ballot. Any registered voter may request a ballot by submitting a signed request to the Clerk Central Lake Township does NOT maintain a permanent absent voter list. Voters must request an absentee ballot for each election in which they wish to vote absentee. The deadline for voters to request an Absentee Ballot by first class mail has changed to the Friday prior to the election at 5 p.m.
The Presidential, Local Primary and General Elections are held every 4 years on the first Tuesday of August and November. The State Primary and General Elections are also held every 4 years but at 2 year intervals to the Presidential and Local Elections. They, too, are the first Tuesday of August and November.
